Brake Fluid: Why it is Important

Brake fluid is sometimes referred to as hydraulic fluid and is an integral part of your automobile's braking system. Without brake fluid, your vehicle wouldn't stop when you apply pressure to the brake pedal. At DCH Acura of Temecula, we want you to have a basic understanding of how your vehicle's works, which is why we have explained some information about brake fluid below.

Brake fluid is usually made with glycol or silicone. The type of brake fluid your vehicle uses will depend on if your vehicle has an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). If your vehicle has an ABS, it will probably need a glycol-based brake fluid. Silicone-based brake fluid is typically used on vehicles that are not equipped with an ABS. The best way to determine when your brake fluid needs to be changed is by consulting with one of our service technicians or reading your owner's manual.

When you need to have your vehicle serviced, be sure to stop by our service center.
