Our team here at DCH Acura of Temecula want to help you understand the importance of maintaining the different components of your vehicle to help keep you on the road. When it comes to your vehicle's alternator, here are some tips for what to look for.

Your Battery and Alternator Work Together

Both your alternator and battery work together to power your electrical system. It can be hard at times to know which one is the problem component. One way you can test a dead vehicle is to jump-start it. You might notice that your issue stems from a damaged alternator instead of a battery.

If the alternator is bad, the battery will quickly die. If the car keeps running, the battery either needed a charge or battery just needs to be replaced. Other signs of alternator problems can be dimmed lights and nonworking instruments.

Sometimes you can smell burning rubber or hear the sound of screeching from under the hood, showing that the belt has gone bad or pulleys have gone bad as well. Come to our Acura dealership for automotive service and repairs.
